AI-Powered Admissions Knowledge Assistant

The challenge

NYU's undergraduate admissions team handles thousands of questions across campus tours, webinars, and day-to-day operations. Inconsistent answers were creating friction at every touchpoint. We built an internal AI assistant trained on approved admissions knowledge, deployed across four environments, that gives staff and ambassadors instant, on-brand responses and cut counselor escalations by an estimated 70-80%.

How we built it

We trained an internal RAG assistant on NYU's approved admissions knowledge base, then deployed it across four distinct environments: staff workflows, ambassador-led tours, live webinars, and day-to-day counselor Q&A. Every response is scoped to approved content with guardrails against off-script answers, so prospective students and families get fast, accurate information at every touchpoint without creating extra work for the admissions team.
